Sarah Shahi recently shared details about her intense and memorable scene with James Gandolfini from “The Sopranos.” During an appearance on the “Bossticks” podcast, Shahi described her kiss with Gandolfini as “one of the best” she’s ever experienced.

Reflecting on the scene, Shahi initially wondered how she would be attracted to Gandolfini, whom she described as a “47-year-old large, balding man.” However, she expressed surprise at how effective the scene was for her, emphasizing its impact.

Shahi, who had a brief role on “The Sopranos,” highlighted a specific scene where the actors consumed mushrooms before engaging in a passionate kiss. She recalled how Gandolfini, known for his method acting, requested dehydrated mushrooms with pepper or spice to elicit a tangible reaction.

Describing the filming process, Shahi shared that during a scene where she sat on Gandolfini’s lap, they consumed mushrooms and kissed. She noted that even after the director signaled “cut,” they continued making out, requiring multiple takes.

In “The Sopranos,” Shahi played Sonya Aragon, a character involved with Christopher Moltisanti, portrayed by Michael Imperioli. Her role featured in season 6 of the acclaimed HBO show in 2007.

James Gandolfini, who contributed significantly to the series as Tony Soprano, unfortunately passed away on June 19, 2013, while in Rome, Italy. The cause of death was later identified as a heart attack.
