The head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, Kyle Shanahan, was in a significant car accident last week, as announced by the team. The incident resulted in Shanahan sustaining several injuries, including a broken nose, three broken ribs, a hand injury, over 40 stitches on his face, and a severe concussion, according to a report by ESPN.
The 49ers released a statement detailing his injuries which, although serious, are not life-threatening. Shanahan plans to participate in team activities on a limited basis as he begins recovery at the start of the training camp. The statement also expressed gratitude to the first responders for their assistance and care during the accident.
During Shanahan’s recovery period, Assistant Head Coach Chris Foerster, along with the team coordinators, will take over the responsibilities usually managed by Shanahan.
