Sam Burns Heads Back to Presidents Cup
Sam Burns has secured his place on the U.S. Presidents Cup team once again, marking his third appearance in this prestigious event and his fifth consecutive appearance for Team USA across the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. Burns officially clinched his spot last Sunday, reaffirming his status among top American golfers.
Those familiar with golf won’t be surprised. Burns, now 30, first made his mark by representing the United States at the Junior Ryder Cup at 18. Since then, he has become a five-time PGA Tour winner.
Family Moments and Golfing Honors
This Presidents Cup holds a special significance. Burns’ son, Bear, will join him, experiencing the environment and camaraderie of international teams. Burns and his wife Caroline welcomed Bear in April 2024, adding to their family with the arrival of their daughter Belle in July 2025.
While Bear is too young to grasp his father’s accomplishments, Burns relishes the chance to have his son witness his wearing of the USA crest.
“It is an honor to represent my country and something bigger than yourself,” Burns shared, reflecting on the pride of playing for teammates and their families.
The Challenges and Triumphs
Golf challenges players to beat individual competitors. Burns has focused on personal victories and team contributions. Despite lacking recent wins, his continued top-five finishes demonstrate his excellence. Notably, he nearly clinched his first major title, finishing second at the U.S. Open and third at The Open.
Burns is often in the mix with golf’s elite, including Scottie Scheffler, competing for top placements but prioritizing family over sport. His dedication is clear, but his family’s importance is paramount.
Fatherhood’s Teachings
Fatherhood has taught Burns patience and the value of love and attention. Collaborating with Raising Cane’s, Burns engaged with local children in St. Louis before the BMW Championship, maintaining a balance between career and family commitments.
“You may feel they are an inconvenience, but you realize their need for attention and love,” Burns acknowledged.
Faith and Perspective
Burns combines his golf career with a strong sense of faith. He understands golf as a pursuit but distinguishes it from his identity. He focuses on faith, family, and country as guiding values.
The balance between sporting ambition and personal life offers broader life lessons, and Burns remains committed to lessons learned in golf and life.
Burns anticipates more accomplishments, including adding more PGA titles. Welcoming the chance to wear his country’s colors on future teams, he reflects that the moments representing something bigger are the most cherished.
