Republican Candidate Terri DeBoer Eyes Michigan’s Third Congressional District

1 hour ago 0

WARREN, Mich. – Fresh from her victory in the Republican primary, Terri DeBoer, a seasoned meteorologist and Congressional hopeful, aims to reclaim Michigan’s Third Congressional District for the GOP. DeBoer expressed confidence in her candidacy, stating that residents are eager for change and want representation that aligns with shared West Michigan values.

DeBoer, aged 61 and a mother of three, spent three decades at various television stations in western Michigan. Her campaign seeks to disrupt the current Democratic hold by incumbent Rep. Hillary Scholten, who took the seat in 2022 after decades of Republican control.

During an interview with Fox News Digital, DeBoer criticized the Democratic Party’s trajectory, suggesting they support candidates who detract from America’s strengths. Responding to questions about progressive movements in the party, she expressed doubt about their alignment with West Michigan values.

DeBoer emphasized her connection with voters, crediting her common-sense approach for public support. In contrast, she criticized Scholten for portraying a moderate image while her congressional voting record tells a different story. Scholten’s opposition to the SAVE America Act and policies on gender in sports were highlighted as key differences.

Discussing campaign issues, DeBoer identified rising living costs as a primary concern, citing expenses in groceries, energy, housing, and healthcare. Her campaign platform includes border security, healthcare options, reliable energy, and deregulation of small businesses.

DeBoer advocated for reducing federal spending and purging government inefficiencies to restore economic freedom. “We really need to make America affordable again,” she stated.

Fox News Digital reached out to Scholten’s campaign for comment on the election. Andrew Mark Miller, a reporter at Fox News, is available on Twitter and accepts tips via email.
