Rep. Josh Gottheimer Warns of Socialist Influence in Democratic Party

Democrat Representative Josh Gottheimer has expressed concern over the increasing influence of far-left socialist factions within the Democratic Party. He highlights the rise of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) during recent primary elections and insists that mainstream leaders must reject these radical progressive policies to maintain voter trust and succeed in congressional elections.

Gottheimer, a member of the House Intelligence Committee and leader of the moderate Blue Dog Coalition, spoke to Fox News, stating that the DSA platform is incompatible with the Democratic Party’s values. According to Gottheimer, DSA members do not align with Democratic ideals and should form their own party instead of trying to take over the Democratic Party.

“I’m a proud, commonsense Democrat, and I don’t think DSA members are Democrats. They’re socialists. If they want their own party, I’m supportive, but taking over ours is unacceptable,” Gottheimer stated.

Gottheimer pointed out discrepancies between the DSA’s values and those of the Democratic Party, mentioning their support for the Communist Manifesto and other ideas he deems anti-American. He referenced man-on-the-street clips from DSA’s Chicago convention, where members expressed opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement presence on campuses.

Gottheimer emphasized that the Democratic Party, with 45 million registered voters, should not welcome the 150,000 official DSA members. He also criticized other members of his party who support DSA-aligned candidates.

Rep. Ro Khanna from Silicon Valley called for Democratic Party reform, criticizing wealth accumulation on Wall Street at the expense of working-class Americans. Gottheimer responded that fringe coalitions are infiltrating both parties with ideas that do not align.

James Carville, a Clinton confidant, expressed disapproval of potential socialist leadership within the party, threatening to leave if left-wing streamer Hasan Piker became a leader. Gottheimer affirmed that Piker is not a Democrat and should not be part of the party.

Gottheimer’s district combines liberal suburbs and conservative areas, making it politically diverse. He remains committed to the Democratic Party despite increasing ideological tensions.
