London — Prince Harry and Meghan are set to return to the United Kingdom on Wednesday. BBC News, partnering with CBS News, reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will travel privately with their two children from California. A spokesperson for the couple refrained from commenting on their travel arrangements, and representatives did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation from CBS News.

The announcement of their return follows six years of the couple residing in California. They plan to settle in the Cotswolds, a region well-known for affluent residences and located about two hours from London. Despite their move, they have no intentions to resume royal duties, maintaining their status as non-working members of the royal family since 2020.

“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity,” they stated in a 2020 announcement.

Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back created significant tension within the family. Their two children, Archie and Lilibet, are expected to start at a new school next week.

In 2024, Harry lost a legal challenge to contest a government decision downgrading his security for UK visits. UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham mentioned the security arrangements as a private matter, expressing goodwill towards the Sussexes in their forthcoming endeavors.

Additionally, recent legal battles have resulted in financial implications. On Friday, Prince Harry, along with other high-profile claimants, was ordered to pay substantial costs to the publisher of the Daily Mail following a court ruling that found their claims against the paper “unreasonable to a high degree.”
