Prince Harry and Meghan Markle found themselves targeted by “Saturday Night Live UK” shortly after their return to Britain. The show humorously addressed their relationship with the royal family, Netflix deal, and Markle’s lifestyle brand. The sketch opened with King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Balmoral, presented as a peaceful retreat.

King Charles, played by Larry Dean, remarked, “Oh, Camilla, nothing like a quiet Saturday in Balmoral. Clean Scottish air, dirty Scottish people … bliss.” Emma Sidi’s portrayal of Camilla added, “I do so love our weekends away. No responsibilities, just like every other day.” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, depicted by Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye, disrupted this calm.

“Daddy, I’m home,” announced the character of Prince Harry, intruding on the royal scene.

The skit quickly teased Markle’s Netflix project “With Love, Meghan.” Her character humorously offered an ice tray to Queen Camilla, saying, “It’s ice. I made it myself. I can give you the recipe. I’m kind of a wiz in the kitchen,” to which the fictional Prince Harry quipped, “She hires the best cooks.” The King Charles character further jabbed, “Don’t tell me you spent all your Netflix money already,” as the fake Prince Harry lamented, “Daddy, it was $60 million! How long was it meant to last?”

As they settled back in Britain, the real Prince Harry and Meghan Markle faced clarity from Buckingham Palace regarding their roles. Despite moving back with their children, Archie and Lilibet, the palace confirmed the couple’s status would remain unchanged. They stepped back from official duties in 2020 and will not regain those roles. Buckingham Palace emphasized this stance in a correspondence sent by King Charles III’s representatives.

The statement reiterated, “In January 2020, the Duke and Duchess stepped away from representing the Sovereign. They are no longer working members of the Royal Family.” The letter also highlighted their position as private citizens with commercial and charitable interests remaining as it is. This message was relayed to government officials and military leaders alike.

Despite their relocation and private residence plans outside London, their royal status, described as “His and Her Royal Highness,” remains unused. Their philanthropic activities continue independently. This transition comes as Archie and Lilibet settle into British schools, beginning classes in September.
