President Trump’s Visit to Ireland

President Trump arrived in Dublin, Ireland, marking the start of his weekend visit. He plans to meet with Irish President Catherine Connolly and Prime Minister Micheál Martin. These discussions are set to take place in Dublin over the weekend.

In addition to these meetings, President Trump is scheduled to address U.S. and Irish business leaders at the U.S. ambassador’s official residence in Dublin. Following this, he will head to his golf club in Doonbeg to watch the Irish Open.

Security measures are heightened with police establishing a cordon around Phoenix Park. Trump’s engagements include visiting the government’s Farmleigh state guesthouse, Áras an Uachtaráin, the president’s residence, and Deerfield, the U.S. ambassador’s residence. During his arrival ceremony at Áras an Uachtaráin, Trump reviewed an honor guard.

Some Dublin residents expressed frustration over the visit. Taxi driver Christopher Fox remarked on the disruption, citing the president’s golfing plans. University student Mina Petrovski criticized Trump’s attitudes toward various communities, questioning the Irish government’s hospitality.

Various groups, including left-leaning opposition parties, anti-military organizations, pro-Palestinian groups, and environmentalists, are planning protests against Trump’s visit in Dublin.

Meanwhile, Trump’s passion for golf continues with his attendance at the Irish Open. This event is part of his ongoing involvement in high-profile sporting events, supporting his family business’s interests. Earlier this year, Trump’s clubs in Doral, Florida, and Bedminster, New Jersey, hosted professional golf tournaments. The Irish Open marks the second European Tour event at Trump properties this year, following the Nexo Championship in Aberdeen, Scotland.
