Polymarket Trading Halted Due to Security Incident

Polymarket stopped trading on its international platform for about an hour on Thursday. This action followed a compromise involving a third-party software vendor. Polymarket offers users the ability to wager on various events, such as elections or the release date of popular video games. At 2 p.m., the platform shifted to cancel-only mode, allowing transaction cancellations but blocking new trades. The issue was linked to DebugBear, a UK-based performance and debugging platform. U.S. Federal Debt Surpasses Economy Size

For the first time since World War II, U.S. federal debt now exceeds the economy’s size. The debt-to-GDP ratio is 100.3 percent as of 2026, raising fiscal concerns. While consumer spending has bolstered economic growth, economists predict a slowdown.

The economy grew 3.4 percent from July to September, with a slight consumer spending rise of 0.5 percent in September when adjusted for inflation. Economists warn that persistent inflation and rising interest rates could strain household budgets, complicating the economic recovery.

Trump Administration Pushes for Drug Cost Transparency

The Trump administration will mandate that companies managing drug prescriptions disclose how much they earn from drugmakers. This regulation aims to enhance transparency and reduce healthcare costs.

The requirement will enable employers to negotiate better prices, affecting over 72 million Americans on self-insured plans. This effort addresses criticisms of lack of pricing transparency among pharmacy benefit managers, with the rule taking effect in July.

Seabird Study Highlights Navigation Challenges

A recent study reveals that seabirds experience ‘jet lag,’ impacting their navigation. Published in the journal Science, researchers found that disruptions in birds’ internal clocks can lead to navigation errors during foraging trips.

The study focused on the Manx shearwater, whose navigation relies on the Earth’s magnetic fields, sun position, and circadian rhythms. Discrepancies in time perception during east-west flights caused navigation errors.

The findings could also provide insights into human circadian rhythms, enhancing the understanding of biological clocks and their adaptability to time changes.
