PepsiCo’s Response to US Snack Volume Issues and Grocery Product Discontinuations

10 minutes ago 0

PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta provided insights into the company’s recent earnings report during an appearance on ‘The Claman Countdown.’ He emphasized the company’s robust growth in global snack and beverage volumes while expressing concerns about the stagnant performance of US snacks. To address these issues, PepsiCo plans to invest in affordability, transform its product portfolio, and expand its market presence.

Meanwhile, shoppers have been disappointed by the discontinuation of several beloved grocery store products. Some items are confirmed to be exiting the market, while others are reportedly being phased out. This situation is partly due to shifts in consumer preferences.

Notable Product Discontinuations

Coca-Cola announced earlier this year that it will discontinue Minute Maid frozen juice concentrates, including orange juice, lemonade, and limeade. These products are nostalgic for many shoppers, having been a staple for 80 years.

Coca-Cola says the departure from frozen-can category is due to evolving consumer tastes.

Blue Bell’s Butter Crunch, a vanilla ice cream with crunchy chocolate peanut butter candy pieces, is also off the shelves. Fans have expressed their desire for the product’s return.

In addition, Cheese Pizza Cheetos Puffs, which made a brief return in 2025, are reportedly being discontinued again. Lay’s Sweet Potato Poppables are also said to be removed due to PepsiCo’s product lineup reduction.

Lastly, Smartfood Movie Theater Butter Popcorn is becoming increasingly hard to find following PepsiCo’s product cuts. Consumers have taken to social media to express their disappointment over these changes.

This series of discontinuations indicates a significant shift among food companies in streamlining their offerings to align with changing consumer preferences.
