Paul Pelosi Involved in Hit-and-Run Incident in California

4 weeks ago 0

Authorities in California reported that Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was involved in a hit-and-run incident. The accident occurred in Yountville, a town located in the heart of wine country. It happened when Pelosi’s brown convertible struck a legally parked car on Friday.

According to a statement from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, the parked car sustained significant damage. Although Paul Pelosi stopped briefly after the collision, he left the scene. No injuries resulted from the incident.

A witness who observed the collision contacted emergency services. Deputies located Pelosi’s car, showing damage to its front, about a quarter of a mile from the site of the incident. Pelosi informed officers that he was aware of hitting something but was uncertain about the specifics.

Despite his age of 86, tests confirmed Pelosi did not have any alcohol in his system. The sheriff’s office suggested referring him to the Department of Motor Vehicles for an assessment of his ability to continue driving, a common procedure for older drivers. No arrest occurred, but a misdemeanor charge for leaving the accident scene was recommended due to the lack of injuries.

A spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi did not immediately reply to requests for comment. Paul Pelosi previously faced legal issues in 2022. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence in Napa County. That verdict led to a sentence of five days in jail and three years of probation. His good conduct allowed him to serve less time, attending a work program and completing a drinking driver class as part of his probation conditions.

Additionally, he was required to install an ignition interlock device, ensuring sobriety before operating his vehicle, and pay victim restitution and fines totaling approximately $7,000. That same year marked a severe personal incident when he was attacked and harmed with a hammer at the couple’s San Francisco residence.
