Pat Sajak, former host of “Wheel of Fortune,” was recently seen in Los Angeles during a rare public appearance. The 79-year-old attended the event on Hollywood Boulevard to honor Air Supply’s Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock, who received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Sajak chose a stylish gray suit with a pink shirt for the occasion. He took photos with the musicians and delivered a speech praising them. During his remarks, Sajak humorously mentioned his own long career, stating, “I know a thing or two about longevity, having done my little show for over 40 years.”
Sajak acknowledged the challenge of staying relevant, adding, “Graham and Russell have entertained fans for over 50 years and still sell out crowds worldwide.” He playfully joked about getting a large Air Supply logo tattoo, but decided against it, quipping it would detract from his imagined nipple ring, eliciting laughter from the audience.
Pat Sajak retired from “Wheel of Fortune” in 2024, passing hosting duties to Ryan Seacrest. Post-retirement, Sajak took the lead role in the play “Prescription: Murder” that ran in Honolulu, Hawaii, in the summer of 2025.
In June, Sajak updated fans via a video from Hawaii, sharing that he enjoys life after his move to Montana. He humorously mentioned attending to cattle, indicating his new life is fulfilling.
Reflecting on his career, Sajak noted in a June 2024 Instagram video that he almost declined the “Wheel of Fortune” hosting offer initially. Replacing Chuck Woolery in 1981, Sajak took over both the daytime version (1981-1989) and the more popular nighttime show from 1983. He said, “When you work in L.A. local TV, you’re always auditioning. Producers are watching at home like everyone else.”
Sajak expressed surprise at how hosting “Wheel of Fortune” became a significant career move, showing that even routine-sounding opportunities can lead to major successes.
