Oregon Ducks Triumph Over Boise State in Thrilling 2026 Season Opener

No. 2 Oregon Ducks narrowly escaped an upset in their season opener against Boise State, securing a 34-27 victory at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon. Despite being heavy favorites, Oregon found themselves locked in a tight 27-27 battle in the fourth quarter.

The turning point came when Dakorien Moore caught a 62-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dante Moore, ensuring Oregon’s win. This victory extends their impressive home winning streak against nonconference teams to 39 games, the longest current streak nationwide.

“Our team showed great resilience,” Coach Mario Cristobal stated after the game. “We faced a tough opponent and rose to the challenge.”

Boise State’s quarterback, Maddux Madsen, showcased his skills with 181 passing yards and three touchdowns. His performance builds on his strong showing last season when he amassed 2,334 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Boise State recently joined the rebuilt Pac-12 Conference after finishing 9-5 in the Mountain West last year. They started strong with Madsen connecting a 13-yard touchdown pass to Cam Bates during their first drive. Oregon responded with a 1-yard touchdown dive by Jordon Davison early in the second quarter.

A fumbled punt by Evan Stewart allowed Boise to regain the lead. Sire Gaines scored with a 37-yard reception, and Canaan Moore extended the advantage with a field goal just before halftime. Dante Moore’s 27-yard pass to Jamari Johnson brought Oregon close at 17-14.

In the third quarter, Gage Hurych’s 26-yard field goal and Jeremiah McClellan’s touchdown catch put Oregon ahead. Yet, Boise tied the game once more with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Madsen to Matt Wagner.

Further field goals followed before Dakorien Moore’s decisive touchdown. Looking ahead, Oregon will travel to Stillwater for a matchup against Oklahoma State, while Boise State prepares to host Memphis in Week 2.
