1 hour ago 0

An incident occurred involving an Ohio couple on a cruise ship, resulting in arrest. Gannon Jacox, 29, and Brooklyn Hicks, 28, faced charges after allegedly forcing entry into a family’s cabin and attacking adults and a child.

Details of the Incident

According to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, the disturbance started when Jacox and Hicks argued loudly following alcohol consumption. A fellow passenger requested them to lower their voices. Hicks confronted this individual, while Jacox recorded the situation on his cellphone, inciting Hicks to violence.

The couple then entered the cabin containing a 9-year-old, escalating into a physical altercation. All three victims, including the child, were struck by Jacox. Hicks attempted to hit the victims as well, according to Sheriff Ivey.

Charges and Consequences

Brooklyn Hicks faces charges of burglary with battery and battery-touch/strike. Gannon Jacox is charged with burglary with battery and child abuse without causing great bodily harm. During the confrontation, Jacox sustained an eye injury.

Fortunately, none of the victims suffered serious injuries. However, the specifics of the cruise ship remain unidentified among ships docked at Port Canaveral, including Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas, Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Treasure, and Carnival’s Mardi Gras and Carnival Freedom.

Warnings from Authorities

Sheriff Ivey emphasized the risks of excessive drinking, advising passengers to be cautious and responsible. He remarked, “If you can’t hold your liquor, avoid being in public causing a scene or harming others, especially children.”

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the responsibility all passengers hold while enjoying leisure activities such as cruising.
