The Smithsonian National Zoo is inviting the public to help name a lively female red panda cub.
Born in June, she is one of three cubs introduced at the zoo’s Front Royal, Virginia facility. Zoo keepers describe her as bold and feisty, often referring to her as the “most vocal” of her siblings.
The zoo has proposed three names for consideration: Dolly, Pyra, and Dolpa. Each name holds significance and character. The decision now lies in the hands of people who have a chance to contribute to this special moment.
Weighing such feedback gives the cub an identity while connecting the community to the zoo’s ongoing conservation efforts. Voting is an opportunity for the public to engage with wildlife preservation and become part of the naming story of this young red panda.
