Minnesota Vikings Choose Kyler Murray as Starting Quarterback

In a move that surprised few, Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell has named Kyler Murray as the starting quarterback, selecting him over J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy, the team’s first-round pick in 2024, faced challenges that affected his standing.

“Some in the organization thought Max Brosmer, an undrafted free agent, should start in Week 1,” the report noted, reflecting hesitations due to McCarthy’s performance last season, completing only 57.6% of his passes with 11 touchdowns against 12 interceptions over 10 games. The team had a 6-4 record during that span, indicating room for improvement.
