Marjorie Taylor Greene Criticizes War Secretary Over Comments on Fallen U.S. Service Members

Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, sharply criticized War Secretary Pete Hegseth after he posted on social media about the sacrifice of U.S. service members amid the Iran conflict. Greene accused Hegseth of having a ‘bloodlust’ and challenged the notion that these troops willingly sacrificed their lives.

Hegseth had shared a U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) post which announced the deaths of American soldiers in Jordan, and wrote, “Godspeed, heroes. Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve.” Greene responded on social media, questioning the use of the word “sacrifice” and argued the troops were victims of a war being waged by Hegseth and others for the benefit of Israel.

Greene remarked, “Sacrifice?? What are you talking about?? They did not willingly sacrifice themselves.” She further criticized, “Their deaths fuel your bloodlust for a senseless war.”

CENTCOM, in a statement issued on Saturday, reported that two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action during an attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles and drones. An additional service member was noted as missing. Greene urged President Trump to withdraw U.S. troops from the Middle East, calling the conflict an “America LAST war.”

On Sunday, CENTCOM updated the situation, stating that unidentified remains had been discovered at the Jordan location, with verification processes underway. In northern Iraq, a U.S. service member died while handling unexploded ordnance from an Iranian attack drone. Another member sustained minor injuries.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, who had a falling out with President Trump last year, resigned from Congress early in her term. Her departure occurred amid multiple conflicts with Trump and others in the political sphere.
