U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently urged Cubans seeking reform to collaborate with the CIA. The call came as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to dismantle Cuba’s communist regime. On a recent Friday, Rubio posted a message on X encouraging Cubans to seize the opportunity for change through cooperation with the CIA.
The Central Intelligence Agency supported Rubio’s statement by reposting it and providing a similar message in Spanish. Accompanying the post was a video outlining steps for contacting the agency.
Economic pressures, including a strict U.S. embargo and sanctions, have exacerbated conditions in Cuba. Prices for basic goods have surged, and access to medical care has declined. Many Cubans endure long waits for essential services such as food and healthcare.

Recently, the U.S. expanded sanctions on Cuba’s state-run bank due to its alleged connections with Iran. During a campaign rally in South Florida, President Trump said, “we’ll take care of Cuba on our way back from Iran.” This statement referred to U.S. Navy operations near the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump mentioned plans for a U.S. warship to approach Cuba, with Marco Rubio delivering a final message as part of this strategy.
Cuba’s government has responded to these actions. Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla dismissed the threats as U.S. ambitions. He emphasized that while Cuba’s shores are scenic, they remain inhospitable to hostile intentions.
