Liv Morgan Retains Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam

Launching a WWE event like SummerSlam requires setting a strong tone from the beginning. Liv Morgan and Iyo Sky opened the event at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis with a gripping match.

Morgan, the reigning women’s world champion, entered the ring facing a challenging opponent in Sky. Though she had not defended her title recently and previously lost to Sky in the Queen of the Ring finals, Morgan quickly took control. As Sky attempted to move the fight outdoors, Morgan countered effectively, using the environment to her advantage.

Sky’s aggressive tactics continued with a Bullet Train Attack that caught Morgan off-guard. However, Morgan’s allies, Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez, provided a distraction, disrupting Sky’s advantage temporarily.

Sky retaliated, executing a daring moonsault to eliminate the interference from Perez and Rodriguez. Morgan regained her focus momentarily but encountered trouble again when Sky performed a remarkable Spanish Fly from the top rope.

Sky’s arsenal included a double underhook faceplant and Morgan’s own signature move, the Oblivion. Yet, the champion refused to concede. Sky’s German suplex on the ring apron and another Bullet Train Attack tested Morgan, but she countered with a well-timed defensive move.

In a powerful sequence, Morgan executed an Oblivion, followed by a codebreaker, and concluded with another Oblivion to secure the victory. This decisive win demonstrated Morgan’s capability to overcome strong adversaries, keeping her title intact.
