7 days ago 0

Two historic documents, signed by Abraham Lincoln, were carefully removed from the Lincoln Memorial on July 16. This action was taken after the display cases in the exhibit space experienced unsafe temperature increases.

A spokesperson for the donor confirmed on Monday morning that the documents were undamaged during this incident.

The documents on display included a copy of the Emancipation Proclamation, signed by President Lincoln. The display had been set up under the Lincoln Memorial undercroft, where the temperature conditions unexpectedly became hazardous.
