A dispute over a $20 tip for photos with showgirls on the Las Vegas Strip allegedly led to a violent altercation, injuring two tourists. One victim was struck over 22 times and hit with a high-heeled boot, according to reports.
FOX 5 in Las Vegas reported the arrest of Jennifer Ortiz and Magdellena Romero after the Sept. 30 incident outside Planet Hollywood. The clash involved women dressed in showgirl costumes, prompted by two North Carolina tourists taking pictures with them.
The tourists paid $20 for the photos, but Ortiz allegedly demanded up to $180 more. When the tourists began to walk away, Ortiz reportedly followed and attacked. Surveillance footage showed Ortiz hitting a tourist repeatedly and using her boot as a weapon.
“A chaotic video showed a fight involving two showgirls and a man and woman. One showgirl pulled hair and punched. The male victim, shirtless and bloodied, tried to intervene,”
said police.
Another showgirl was present but reportedly attempted to help stop the violence. Both victims were treated for injuries on site. They did not go to a hospital but later filed formal complaints.
The arrest report revealed another complaint. A man declared he was charged $218 for photos instead of the agreed $60. He was given a false contact number when he confronted the women.
Ortiz contended that one tourist attacked her first. Romero mentioned intervening due to her friend’s situation. Ortiz faces charges of battery and obtaining money under false pretenses. Romero is charged with battery. Both women were taken to the Clark County Detention Center.
FOX 5 highlighted Ortiz’s previous order to avoid trouble after a March incident at the Fremont Street Experience.
The court set a return date for both women on Dec. 3. Ortiz and Romero’s ongoing legal situation remains under scrutiny.
