Robinson has signed a three-year contract with the Boston Celtics. This move prompted reactions from former teammates such as Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and OG Anunoby on social media. Robinson’s reply to Anunoby’s comment indicates some underlying tension. Anunoby left a sad emoji, to which Robinson responded, acknowledging he ‘tried’ to stay with the Knicks. He hinted that the decision was not entirely mutual, expressing hope for clarity in the future: ‘I tried, brother. I didn’t want this to happen. Hopefully, the truth comes out at some point. Team owner James Dolan had previously stated, post-championship, his lack of interest in surpassing the NBA’s second payroll threshold. He referred to this financial move as ‘suicidal.’ This comment suggested to fans a looming overhaul of the team’s roster, especially since Brunson had taken a large pay cut for the championship win.
