Joy Behar, co-host of ‘The View,’ has addressed her upcoming break from the daytime talk show, emphasizing that it should not be labeled a ‘hiatus.’ On Friday, Behar clarified her plans for taking time off from her hosting duties.
Behar initially shared news of the break on Tuesday’s episode of ‘Behind the Table’ podcast. The show’s producer, Brian Teta, remarked, ‘This is your last podcast for a little bit, because next week you’re not going to be here.’
Behar explained the situation on Friday, addressing rumors and promoting her upcoming play. ‘There’s been a lot of media attention on me lately because I’m taking off the next two weeks. They’re calling it a hiatus. It’s not a hiatus,’ she stated. ‘I’m working. I have a planned trip overseas next week to work on my play, “My First Ex-Husband,” in London.’
The audience reacted positively, and Behar urged viewers to visit her play’s official website to learn about other performances. ‘I’ve written a bunch of plays,’ she mentioned, adding that another play, ‘Bonkers in the Boroughs,’ will be performed in the Hamptons at the end of summer.
Joy Behar’s upcoming play reportedly adapts true stories of romance. Co-host Sara Haines remarked, ‘I love that they’re calling it a hiatus. That’s a break when you stop working.’
The show hosts confirmed they would miss Behar during her absence. Multiple co-hosts replied positively, and Haines suggested Behar could still send jokes for the show from afar.
According to the website, ‘My First Ex-Husband’ is ‘a bold and heartfelt adaptation of true stories’ by Joy Behar. Known for her razor-sharp wit, the play explores humorous and raw truths about love and relationships. A rotating cast of stars from theater, television, and film will add their unique personalities to these relatable tales.
