A confrontation at a Jimmy John’s in St. Louis escalated dramatically, resulting in a 14-year-old girl being shot. Police and court records indicate that the incident ended with charges against a restaurant employee accused of firing at a vehicle containing the teenager.
The shooting occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on a Saturday near the intersection of Vandeventer and Laclede avenues. The teenage girl was hospitalized in stable condition. Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Adam White, an employee at the restaurant where the incident originated.
Adam White has been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful weapon use, and child endangerment, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
The conflict began with a dispute involving the girl’s mother and individuals at the Jimmy John’s on the 3800 block of Laclede. As the argument intensified, the mother’s boyfriend and the 14-year-old arrived, escalating the situation further.
Investigators note that a verbal altercation between White and a former employee moved to the parking lot. The former employee, her boyfriend, and her daughter entered a vehicle, which prompted White to allegedly shoot at it. The girl was hit in the leg during the incident. Ballistic evidence was reportedly found in the vehicle’s trunk.
White fled but later returned to the scene and was arrested. After being advised of his rights, he reportedly admitted to shooting at the vehicle and mentioned leaving the weapon at his residence. He remains in custody without bond awaiting trial.
