James Carville Considers Leaving Democratic Party if Hasan Piker Gains Influence

Democratic strategist James Carville expressed his intent to exit the Democratic Party if far-left streamer Hasan Piker becomes a significant voice within it. Carville stated on “The Sunday Briefing,” “I am not going to be in the same party with Hasan Piker.” He emphasized, “If he becomes a force in a Democratic Party, I’m out of here. I have no intention of ever being in the same political party with that guy.”

Hasan Piker, known for his socialist views, has attracted attention by supporting Democratic Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. As democratic socialists gain traction in U.S. elections, Piker is emerging as a prominent figure on the left.

Piker faced backlash for a 2019 comment during a stream, “America deserved 9/11.” He later clarified in an interview that his words were a critique of U.S. foreign policy.

Carville reiterated to Fox News that he and Piker will not coexist in the same political organization, saying, “One of us is going to leave. It might even be me.”

Piker recently endorsed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., as a potential Democratic presidential candidate for 2028. He believes there is “0% chance” the Democratic nominee will be pro-Israel, citing polling that shows declining Democratic support for Israel.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is contending with internal challenges amid democratic socialism’s rise. Chair Ken Martin is addressing financial difficulties, with Carville commenting that the DNC needs to resolve these issues, though he “can’t help them.”

The influence of democratic socialism has sparked debates within the Democratic Party about its future direction. Carville noted, “It may be that the two-party system is just going to be under tremendous stress here in the coming months.”

Expressing concerns about far-left candidates, Carville told CNN many are “too hard-headed to know that they’re not popular,” warning that they are damaging the party’s reputation.
