Hunter Mahan left the PGA Tour in 2021, expressing burnout from the relentless demands of professional golf. For the last five years, Mahan embraced family life, engaged in coaching high school golf, and eventually felt compelled to re-engage with the sport in a different role.

In June, Mahan ventured into golf content creation, sharing his journey back to the sport through videos on Instagram. His instructional videos and personal experiences attracted over 55,000 followers. Mahan highlighted the encouragement from his wife, who noticed his renewed interest in playing, prompting him to share his experiences with fans.

"Initially, I recorded a video without knowing how it would look or feel. Surprisingly, the positive feedback was overwhelming," Mahan shared during an interview.

Considering the PGA Tour Champions

Looking ahead, Mahan is contemplating joining the PGA Tour Champions when he turns 50, currently just over five years away. He expressed excitement about potentially competing with fellow golfers who will be reaching the same milestone. "It would be fun to compete with many friends I’ve played alongside," Mahan noted.

Mahan, once ranked in the Top Five of the Official World Golf Ranking in 2012, has immediate eligibility for the PGA Tour Champions upon turning 50, owing to his six PGA Tour victories. He claimed his first win at the 2007 Travelers Championship, with his final victory at The Barclays in 2014.
