Many homeowners with low-interest mortgages are choosing to pay off their loans faster than necessary. This trend contradicts the typical financial advice to extend repayment of such low-rate loans.
Christopher Price, a financial planner, asserts, If you have a mortgage at 2.5 percent, the best move financially is to pay it off as slowly as possible.
Despite this recommendation, new findings suggest homeowners are adopting a different approach.
A recent analysis by the major lender, Rocket Mortgage, reveals surprising results. The study examined early payment patterns of nearly 3 million loans across all 50 states over the past five years. Findings indicate that nearly 25% of homeowners are repaying their mortgages faster than their scheduled payment plans require.
Interestingly, those who could gain the most from accelerating their payments are the ones least likely to do so, according to data from Rocket Mortgage.
