Hasan Piker Criticizes California Politics and Expresses Disappointment

3 weeks ago 0

Left-wing Twitch streamer Hasan Piker criticized the state of California after his preferred candidate fell behind a gay Democratic state senator in the recent elections. He voiced his frustration during a livestream, noting the failure of Saikat Chakrabarti, the former chief of staff for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, to progress in the California primary. This primary aims to find a replacement for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan and California state Senator Scott Wiener will compete in the upcoming November elections, with Wiener currently leading at 41%.

Piker took issue with the political climate of San Francisco and California, suggesting that liberals in the area favor what he described as “gay fascism,” referring to Wiener’s sexuality. This statement was made as Piker defended himself against accusations of homophobia from his audience.

Piker claimed, “It’s just rich liberals who want homo-fascism in the country. That’s it. They want gay fascism. They want gay techno-fascism.” He argued that California’s liberalism starts and ends with rights for LGBTQ individuals and abortion, highlighting a belief in limited “wokeness.”

“It’s true. If it offends you, that’s your problem. I mean, it’s true. Yes, California liberalism begins and ends at abortion rights being protected and LGBTQ rights being protected. That’s it. Wokeness has a limit in California. That is literally the limit,” Piker stated.

Additionally, Piker expressed dismay over housing costs and lack of public transit solutions in California. He mentioned high expenses, saying, “They do not care if one apartment unit costs $7 million,” and accused the state of lacking economic progress.

Piker further criticized Senator Scott Wiener, accusing him of insincerity concerning the issue of genocide attributed to Israel. Piker accused Wiener of aligning his stance for political gain.

“What I care about is the fact that Scott Wiener straight up said Israel committed a genocide and I know for a fact he doesn’t believe it and he just wanted to win,” he commented.

Beyond supporting Chakrabarti, Piker also hosted California gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer and Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman on his stream ahead of the primaries. As of Thursday, both candidates are trailing in their races.

Requests for comment from Hasan Piker were made by Fox News Digital. Piker’s comments and his continued support for specific candidates highlight his critical views of Californian politics.
