The New York Giants will likely acquire a new quarterback, possibly two, after Jaxson Dart underwent knee surgery, ending his regular-season play.

On Sunday, veteran quarterback Jameis Winston started for the Giants, securing a 12-7 victory against the Tennessee Titans in rainy conditions at MetLife Stadium. Winston completed 14 of 22 passes for 118 yards and contributed another 14 yards by running.

Although Winston’s performance wasn’t stellar, the result allowed New York to overcome a Titans team now 0-3 under new head coach Robert Saleh.

After the game, Giants head coach John Harbaugh confirmed Winston will remain the starter for the immediate future. According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Harbaugh praised Winston for doing what was necessary to defeat Tennessee.

While Winston, at age 32, hasn’t impressed with passing statistics, the Giants don’t plan to focus solely on the struggles of the former first-overall draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015.

“Not at all,” Harbaugh stated. “The plans are the plans. The opportunities that you have are the opportunities you have. No matter what, we’re going to do everything we can to make our team as strong as we can based on what options we have.”

The Giants hope Dart might return by January if they reach the playoffs. Meanwhile, securing wins is essential for their postseason aspirations. The Giants, now 2-1, will face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4.

Concerns remain over Winston’s performance after a challenging 11 of 27 completion for 111 yards and one interception in the Giants’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams during “Monday Night Football” in Week 2. The team anticipated improving Winston’s play with a tailored game plan against the Titans, but the outcome showed room for improvement.
