Gate Agents Prevent Immigration Agents Without Warrant

Recently, gate agents have been proactive in blocking immigration authorities attempting to board planes without possessing judicial warrants. This action indicates a significant step as agents emphasize the need for proper legal procedures.

At a recent meeting of the National Governors Association, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin reaffirmed his previous commitments. During his confirmation hearings in March, Mullin promised to focus on removing the most dangerous individuals from the streets. He assured governors that by targeting the ‘worst of the worst,’ visibility of immigration enforcement in cities and states would decrease.

Mullin, who oversees the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, explained that the strategy aims to eliminate the presence of immigration enforcement in local areas, thus reducing the need for frequent interventions. He stated, “Let’s work to get the worst of the worst off the streets and then you won’t see me in your cities and states like you do as much.” This policy reflects an approach that prioritizes specific targets, hoping to diminish the overall impact on communities.
