Former NFL Player Alphonso Smith Jr. Found Dead After Distressing Social Media Post

Former NFL cornerback Alphonso Smith Jr. was discovered deceased in Florida. This occurred soon after a deeply troubling social media post suggesting a history of child abuse and feelings of demonic possession. The last line of his post ominously stated, “This is it.”

A family member who wished to remain anonymous confirmed his death to OutKick, although the specific cause remains unconfirmed. TMZ has reported Smith’s death as a suicide, yet OutKick has not verified this independently.

Regardless of the manner of death, Smith’s final Facebook post indicated a need for help.

“Do not cry for me! I tried everything in my power to fight the demons behind the ones that someone put into ME!”

Smith expressed regret about perceived failures and struggle with inner demons. He acknowledged he had hurt many people, apologized, and labeled himself negatively.

His message also included apologies to his children, friends, and family, disclosing personal trauma inflicted by an older woman during his childhood.

“To my kids, daddy is SO SORRY!”

He asked for forgiveness and urged prayers for all affected by his actions.

Smith’s emotional note reflected deep introspection and stated his brain and experiences were profoundly troubled.

“I am the WORST & I pray my soul rest in heaven for my heart is pure, but my BRAIN & experience is MESSED UP!!”

Prior to this post, Smith was recorded offering to buy breakfast for people, and he had recently spoken to the Wake Forest football team. Born in Pahokee, Florida, Smith excelled in college football at Wake Forest with a record 21 interceptions.

The Denver Broncos drafted him in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. During his career, he played for both the Broncos and the Detroit Lions, appearing in 42 games, making 88 tackles, and achieving eight interceptions, all while possibly dealing with personal pain.
