Former Miss North Carolina USA Comments on Losing Her Title

Former Miss North Carolina USA, Brittany Boltinhouse, has spoken out after being stripped of her crown shortly before the Miss USA pageant. Boltinhouse suggests her conservative Christian values influenced the decision.

Miss USA Organization’s Decision

The Miss USA Organization announced on August 5 that Boltinhouse was no longer the titleholder. Chairman Thom Brodeur did not specify the actions leading to this decision. He mentioned that the organization does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia, or language that diminishes anyone’s dignity. Brodeur stated the behavior in question persisted over a substantial time.

This decision came just weeks after Boltinhouse’s state title win and three weeks before she was set to represent North Carolina at the Miss USA pageant on August 27.

Brittany Boltinhouse’s Response

In a conversation with the Carolina Journal, Boltinhouse described losing the title as a “blessing in disguise.”

I’m very much at peace and I’m actually glad it happened to me and not some other young lady, Boltinhouse remarked. The scrutiny, my family behind it as well. But I will say that I’m very much at peace and I see the light at the end of the tunnel and I know who I am and I know what I can become.

While a confidentiality agreement limits her from detailing the reasons behind her title loss, Boltinhouse believes her political and religious beliefs contributed to the outcome.

She expressed pride in her faith and values, stating, “I’m proud of my faith. I’m proud of my standards. I’m a proud conservative woman, but a Christian woman. I’m a God-fearing woman.”

Expressing Beliefs in the Pageant World

When asked if being conservative was disqualifying in the pageant system, Boltinhouse emphasized the importance of expressing one’s political beliefs freely.

I believe that everyone has a right to say what they want to say and feel the way they want to feel, she stated.

Boltinhouse acknowledged the lack of clarity regarding whether her support for Donald Trump influenced the decision, but she maintained her uncertainty on the specific reasons behind the action taken against her.

Forgiveness and Moving Forward

Despite losing her crown, Boltinhouse forgives the organization and encourages other women to stand by their beliefs.

Hopefully see me as an example, she encouraged. To always stand for what you believe, no matter what, no matter where, no matter what you do.

She urged all women, regardless of their political views, to freely express their beliefs.

Myla Hadley, who was the first runner-up, will represent North Carolina at the national event with the organization’s full support, Brodeur confirmed.

Brodeur highlighted the human element in this situation, acknowledging the public scrutiny Boltinhouse faced. He emphasized that accountability does not necessitate cruelty or reveling in someone’s downfall.
