Fernando Mendoza Signs Contract with Las Vegas Raiders

1 week ago 0

Quarterback Fernando Mendoza, the top selection in this year’s draft, has finalized a four-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. The deal is valued at $57.27 million and includes a team option for a fifth year. Mendoza was the last of the ten draft picks to sign with the Raiders.

In a social media post by the team, Mendoza expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m excited to get this thing signed. I’m excited to be a part of the silver and black. Can’t wait.”

During organized team activities and minicamp, Mendoza coordinated the third-team offense. However, he is anticipated to play a more significant role as training camp begins on Wednesday.

The Raiders have veteran Kirk Cousins, who joined the team on a free-agent contract with $20 million guaranteed, as the number one quarterback heading into camp. The duration of Cousins’ tenure as the leading quarterback is expected to be a major talking point during the camp and possibly throughout the season.

Mendoza aims to replicate the success he achieved in his final college football season. He secured the Heisman Trophy and led Indiana to win its first national championship.
