The Water Tower, originally constructed in 1877, served as an essential part of the estate for nearly a century by supplying fresh water. Recently, it underwent significant renovations to cater to overnight guests. Rental prices begin at approximately 151 pounds per night, slightly over $200. The cost decreases with prolonged stays.
The Sandringham Estate announced the unveiling of the Water Tower on social media, emphasizing its historical significance and grand stature above the Norfolk countryside. Photos and videos showcase a romantic escape for two. The interior highlights a charming living room adorned with a fireplace, a chandelier, and traditional British artwork.
Upstairs, guests can enjoy a luxurious bedroom with a fireplace and breathtaking views of the countryside. A medieval-style staircase leads to the rooftop, providing stunning vistas of the English hills. The Tower, designed by James Mansergh, features distinctive neo-Byzantine architecture and intricate brickwork.
The Water Tower complements other rental options on the estate, such as the Gardens House, accommodating eight, and the Folly, housing six. Besides Sandringham, other royal retreats like Balmoral Castle in Scotland are also available for rental.
Sandringham holds a special place in royal tradition, with the royal family celebrating Christmas at Sandringham House on the estate. Acquired by Queen Victoria in 1862 as a retreat for her son, King Edward VII, the estate has since passed to King Charles, following Queen Elizabeth II’s legacy.
A dedicated team of around 200 individuals maintains the estate. It boasts a range of amenities, including farms, a sawmill, a juice pressing plant, elegant gardens, a restaurant, and the Sandringham Exhibition & Transport Museum.
