DHS Engages with Business Groups Over Immigration Concerns

2 weeks ago 0

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), led by Secretary Markwayne Mullin, is establishing connections with business organizations that have expressed worries regarding the impact of immigration enforcement on their workforce. These concerns were previously overlooked by Kristi L. Noem, the former DHS secretary.

For the first time, under Mullin’s leadership, DHS officials met with trade groups apprehensive about losing employees due to the president’s deportation initiatives. This development marks a shift in the department’s approach, promising a more open dialogue with businesses affected by immigration policies.

Recently, tensions have risen following the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo during an immigration checkpoint in Houston. This incident has sparked protests and has added urgency to the discussions between DHS and the business sector.
