Democrats Urged to Distance from Hasan Piker After Controversial Remarks

The ties between Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed and far-left streamer Hasan Piker are drawing scrutiny. Piker’s highly controversial statements about U.S. Jews have led to prominent Democrats advising colleagues to distance themselves from him. Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer discussed the issue on ‘America Reports,’ highlighting concerns over growing antisemitism on the far-left.

Senators Elissa Slotkin of Michigan and Jacky Rosen of Nevada publicly criticized Piker after his comments suggested Jewish Americans could face consequences for their support of Israel. Piker stated, “If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone is going to come around and take action, not against the state of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews.”

Elissa Slotkin, seen as a potential 2028 presidential candidate, responded firmly. She said, “No community should face the threat [of] violence for their political views. Period.” She emphasized this applies to all political causes. Slotkin argued that blaming victims of violence only endangers more people.

Slotkin pointed to a trend where political violence and antisemitism are becoming normalized. She referenced a nearly deadly antisemitic event at Temple Israel in Michigan six months ago to illustrate the growing threat. Slotkin concluded that no one should suggest victims, whether Jews or others, are to blame for being targeted.

Antisemitism Reaches New Heights

Jacky Rosen condemned Piker’s remarks, calling them “a new low.” Rosen remarked, “Blaming Jewish Americans for the violence and hate they’re facing is not just wrong, it provides an excuse to those perpetuating these anti-Jewish hate crimes.” She stressed that crimes against Jews for being Jews are unequivocally antisemitism.

Abdul El-Sayed, despite his past attempts to distance himself from Piker’s controversial comments, is now under pressure to further separate himself. El-Sayed maintained he does not need to answer for everything Piker has said, yet he distanced himself following the latest issue.

Hasan Piker has a history of making contentious statements, previously suggesting “America deserved 9/11” and supporting a desire to “impoverish the White middle-class.” This controversial background is drawing increased criticism, including from fellow Democrats who see it as victim-blaming the Jewish community for attacks they experience.
