3 weeks ago 0

Good Good Golf Faces Internal Changes

The recent upheaval within Good Good Golf continues, attracting attention from the industry and public alike. At the center of this controversy is the brand’s leadership, with President Joe Flannery and CEO Matt Kendrick stepping down. Flannery, who took on the presidential role shortly before the ad was released, and Kendrick are departing after issues arising from their advertisement partnership with Callaway.

Operations leader Alex Puchala announced these changes in a memo, stating co-founder Nahid Giga will temporarily assume the CEO position.

Ad Controversy and Ramifications

Good Good Golf, known for its popular YouTube channel and apparel, collaborated with Callaway for a new campaign. Problems arose when an ad featuring co-founder Garrett Clark became controversial, resulting in backlash. Despite apologies from both Good Good and Callaway, the partnership ended.

Consequences include severing ties with the PGA Tour, pulling apparel from stores, and further scrutiny over the brand’s marketing tactics.

Callaway’s CEO Chip Brewer acknowledged the ad’s approval flaw in a statement, assuring improved review processes to prevent future issues.

Kendrick’s Public Response

Matt Kendrick expressed frustration with Callaway on social media. His posts criticized the company’s handling of the situation, accusing them of orchestrating a coordinated media strategy while distancing themselves from Good Good.

Though Kendrick hinted at possible legal action against Callaway, he later deleted related comments.

Good Good’s Continued Presence

Despite the turmoil, Good Good Golf remains active on YouTube with over 2 million subscribers. The brand continues to deliver content to its audience, navigating the complex landscape of this controversy.
