Conor McGregor recently opened up about the knee injury he suffered during his brief UFC return on July 11 in Las Vegas. The injury occurred in a match against Max Holloway at UFC 329, where McGregor was defeated by technical knockout. McGregor described the injury as ‘quite shocking.’

These were the words McGregor shared on social media, revealing the extent of his injury. It was the same type of injury he had experienced in an earlier fight against Holloway, albeit this time on the opposite leg.

McGregor first fought Holloway 13 years ago before his ascent to global fame in the mixed martial arts arena. He finds the timing of this similar injury coincidental but remains positive about recovery prospects.

Emphasizing advancements in regenerative medicine and enhanced training methods, McGregor expressed optimism about returning to the octagon by next summer. He mentioned his progress, including walking without crutches and performing leg extensions without issues, highlighting his disciplined approach to recovery.

McGregor’s response post-fight referenced an emotional and mental turmoil, articulated through social media: “My head gasket is gone. Destroyed.” He had no pre-existing injuries going into the fight and was practicing kicks backstage.
