Eight individuals were injured during a shooting incident in Coney Island on Saturday night. This occurred amidst large crowds who gathered to witness a Fourth of July fireworks display. The police reported the event.
Authorities responded to a 911 call at 10:37 p.m. The location was 2929 West 31st Street in Brooklyn, near the Coney Island boardwalk. The fireworks display had started around 10 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered eight gunshot victims. These victims ranged in age from six to 37 years old. A 21-year-old woman experienced a critical injury after being shot in the chest. Her condition was reported on Sunday as critical.
The injured included two young boys aged six and seven. The seven-year-old sustained gunshots to both legs, while the six-year-old suffered a wound to the abdomen. Additionally, there were two other boys among the injured, aged 12 and 14. Luckily, all victims are expected to recover.
The police have not determined a motive for the shooting. No shooter has been identified yet, and there have been no arrests.
