The 2026 WNBA season concluded with exciting awards announcements, highlighted by Minnesota Lynx’s Cheryl Reeve being named Coach of the Year. This marks Reeve’s fifth time winning the award, further solidifying her status with a league record. Her previous accolades came in 2011, 2016, 2020, and 2024.
Reeve received 54% of votes from WNBA journalists and broadcasters. Her closest competitors were Golden State Valkyries’ head coach Natalie Nakase with 27% and Washington Mystics’ head coach Sydney Johnson at 18%.
In her 17th season with the Lynx, Reeve led Minnesota to an impressive regular season record of 33-11, earning the No. 1 seed in the WNBA Playoffs. She also made significant professional strides, acting as an All-Star Coach for the sixth time in July and becoming the league’s winningest regular-season coach with 380 wins later that month.
The Lynx are set to face the New York Liberty in Game 2 of the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday, September 29. The first round’s best-of-three series began on Sunday, September 27.
