1 day ago 0

Gilbert Orthodontics will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a special event at The Shops on Elm Place in Highland Park. Dr. Josh Gilbert, the owner, decided to expand the “10 Years of Smiles” celebration by inviting neighboring businesses to join the festivities. Scheduled for August 26, from 3 to 5:30 p.m., the End of Summer Party promises fun activities and generous giveaways.

Dr. Gilbert took over the practice a decade ago from a retiring orthodontist. “Marking this milestone with the community that has supported us was important,” he stated, emphasizing the practice’s focus on patient comfort and care. Born and raised in Highland Park, Gilbert added, “I love being part of the community.”

Hosting the event, Gilbert Orthodontics will feature a DJ, bounce house, and face-painting. Attendees can visit the office for complimentary digital scans to preview potential orthodontic treatments. Prizes like teeth-whitening will also be raffled.

Another participant, The BBQ Pit, will serve customer favorites such as macaroni and cheese, pulled pork, and brisket sandwiches. Owner Gus Karigan, who’s been running the family business since 1988, described their restaurant as the “Cheers” of the neighborhood, noting a strong community rapport.

Josh Gordon of The Custom Framer looks forward to offering art activities and special events. This business focuses on high-quality frames, printing, and customer service, which Gordon believes keep them thriving.

Joan Barry Hair Designers, celebrating 25 years, will provide temporary hair color spray. Love’s Yogurt, marking 40 years, will offer sidewalk chalking activities.

My Sister’s Circus, in the mall for 29 years, will organize circus games and offer discounted items. TREVI Longevity & Aesthetics Institute, a 15-year resident, will provide free B-12 shots, IV bags, and hydrating snacks.

Studio Lagree will give away group class vouchers. Eye Magic by Michael Scott will feature the Magnificent Eye Chart for vision testing. The business has been operating for 38 years, with Michael Scott as owner for two.

ABC Design Jewelers, a newer tenant with five years in the mall, will offer complimentary jewelry cleaning, ear piercing, and a children’s jewelry trunk show. Owner Anat Borochov highlighted that everything is done in-store, allowing customers to watch the jewelry work while enjoying a snack.

Borochov will also host an Adult After-Party later that evening at Gabby & Summer Classics, offering music, wine, and cheese for mingling. “I wanted to support my neighbors,” Borochov said, expressing her love for making people happy.
