Buffalo Grove Days Parade 2026 Brings Community Together

Community Parade Under Overcast Skies

The Buffalo Grove Days Parade for 2026 took place on September 5, amidst overcast skies and temperatures nearing 80 degrees. The parade followed a route leading to Mike Rylko Community Park. With around 60 units participating, the event showcased the community spirit.

Celebrating 25 Years of Music

The parade’s grand marshal was the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band (BGSB), marking their 25th anniversary. Howard Green, the founding music director, recently retired but participated in the parade by waving a conductor’s baton from a vehicle’s open roof. Green expressed pride in the orchestra’s achievements and organization. The band is now in search of a new director. More information can be found here.

A Festival of Activities

Buffalo Grove Days, a free five-day event, ran from September 3 to September 7, concluding on Labor Day. The festival featured a variety of activities including games, carnival rides, music performances, and bingo. Michael Terson, superintendent of communications and marketing for the Buffalo Grove Park District, praised the food and beverage choices, along with a must-see lineup of bands.

Kim Family’s Parade Tradition

For James and Julie Kim of Buffalo Grove, the parade is a family tradition. They attended with their children Chloe and Celine. James Kim, an Adlai E. Stevenson High School graduate, emphasized the safety and community atmosphere of Lake County, stating his satisfaction with the area’s cleanliness and organization.

Honoring Pageant Queens

The parade featured Buffalo Grove Community Pageant (BGCP) 2026 Queens: Little Miss Avni Aggarwal, Junior Miss Diya Mathan, Miss Buffalo Grove Saachi Churiwala, and Teen Miss Reha Sachdev. Miss Buffalo Grove Saachi Churiwala, expressed gratitude for the community and the opportunities it provided, highlighting the support from local schools and public facilities.

Community Engagement

The parade offered personal interactions with first responders and community representatives. Buffalo Grove Police Therapy Dog Grady greeted families along the route. Tiffany Golladay thanked organizers for the event, appreciating the community engagement opportunities. Her partner, John Griffel, spoke highly of the local schools and parks.

A Celebration of Community

Eric Smith, Buffalo Grove Village President and Mayor, joined the festivities, expressing his love for the tradition on Labor Day. He emphasized the importance of the community event, which brings residents together each year.
