Ariana Grande has chosen to withdraw from an upcoming London stage musical, planning to retreat from public life to escape intense scrutiny. Grande intended to perform alongside ‘Wicked’ co-star Jonathan Bailey in Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Sunday in the Park with George’ at the Barbican Centre in 2027. Empire Street Productions announced that Grande will no longer participate, emphasizing their support for her decision. The production will proceed as scheduled next summer, and casting updates will follow.

Ariana Grande’s representative shared with People magazine that the singer plans to step back after concluding the Eternal Sunshine Tour. She aims to finish the tour positively and then take a needed break from public life, which has brought her relentless public attention.

The representative did not provide detailed reasons. However, the public’s fixation on Grande’s appearance and health has been evident recently. This scrutiny increased last week following the ‘Petal’ music video release, where Grande portrayed an aspiring performer frequently rejected by male judges.

Grande has addressed comments about her appearance before. Her song ‘Yes, And?’ from 2024 includes lyrics rejecting commentary on her looks. In 2023, after facing numerous comments, she posted a viral TikTok video, urging followers to be considerate. ‘Even if intentions are kind, remember you don’t know someone’s struggles,’ she stated.

Grande’s current tour will conclude in London on September 1. She rose to fame as a child actor on Nickelodeon, then debuted her album ‘Yours Truly’ in 2013. She has earned three Grammy Awards and an Academy Award nomination for ‘Wicked.’
