Alanna Rizzo Discusses MLB, Transgender Athletes, and Animal Welfare

Alanna Rizzo, renowned for her expertise on Major League Baseball, recently spoke with OutKick. She addressed the sport’s current situation, the Dodgers, and a potential lockout, as well as topics in pop culture. Rizzo, who has two stepdaughters, gave her thoughts on the debate surrounding transgender athletes in female sports, emphasizing a balanced perspective.

“I believe everybody should have a right to be who they are, want to be who they are, be in a safe space, be protected, and feel that they can talk about things and have their own opinion on things,” Rizzo stated.

Rizzo cautioned about physical spaces for young girls and women lacking resources or physical ability for self-protection. Sharing her own sports experience, she expressed discomfort with males in female spaces. Her stance on protecting women and girls from biological males in sports is not intended as political or transphobic.

Rizzo further explained, “People think that if I say women should be protected in their own space… I’m anti-trans people or anti-gay. That’s not at all what I’m saying.”

She applauded WNBA forward Sophie Cunningham for addressing these issues, recognizing the challenge of speaking your mind when facing opposition. Rizzo reinforced her support for safe spaces for everyone paired with protection for young females.

Apart from advocating for girls’ sports spaces, Rizzo leads a foundation focused on dog protection.
