Addressing Aging Challenges Early: A Letter to Carolyn

1 month ago 0

Dear Carolyn,

I have always believed that addressing potential problems early is crucial. As my dad’s only child, and with my stepmom not having children, I recognize that their aging concerns will eventually become my responsibility. Recognizing this, I encouraged my dad to adopt certain habits upon retirement that could mitigate aging issues.

Five years into his retirement, his routine includes playing pickleball, volunteering twice a week, lunching with former colleagues at least once a week, and taking my son to soccer practice. These activities keep him active and engaged, which are key factors in preventing age-related problems.

However, I notice a different challenge emerging with my dad’s wife. I worry about potential disruptions and how these might impact our efforts to maintain a proactive approach to aging challenges.
