Yareliz Mendez Zamora from the American Friends Service Committee has noticed more arrivals at the Miramar ICE facility. Each week, she visits to assist families with their cases.
On Wednesday, activists assembled across from the Miramar ICE building. They voiced concerns about the increased activity.
The activists observed several changes:
- Overnight detentions
- Frequent movement of cars entering and exiting the facility
- Addition of portable bathrooms in the back parking lot, likely to manage more cases
These activists are from the American Friends Service Committee and the Florida Immigrant Coalition. Both organizations focus on protecting immigrant families as part of their mission.
