Aaron Rodgers Discusses Breakup with Shailene Woodley

Aaron Rodgers candidly addressed the end of his engagement with Shailene Woodley during a conversation on Cam Heyward’s podcast, “Not Just Football.” The quarterback shared his perspective on the breakdown of their relationship.

Rodgers, 42, recounted meeting Woodley during the COVID-19 pandemic and moving in together swiftly. In 2021, he announced their quiet engagement, which ended about a year later. Rodgers expressed his surprise at the split, recalling how Woodley felt pressured into the engagement. He stated, “I date Shailene, I propose and she says yes. She maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision, she could have said no.”

Rodgers shared a difficult moment where Woodley said she needed to be with someone else, leading to the end of their relationship by March. He remarked, “Her story is, I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her, but in actuality, she told me that and took off the ring.” He disclosed attempts to reconcile, but none succeeded, noting, “There wasn’t even a relationship in ’22 to break off. She literally told me I don’t want to be with you.”

Reflecting on past relationships, Rodgers commented, “The height of their fame was when they were with me.” Meanwhile, Woodley’s representatives chose not to comment immediately.

In a 2022 interview with Outside magazine, Woodley expressed her emotional struggle, stating, “I haven’t shared much about my relationship with Aaron because it always makes me cry. It was not right. But it was beautiful.” Without naming Rodgers, she further revealed a traumatic incident in early 2022 that caused six months of depression.
