A friend of Virgin River actor Stewart McLean had a strong suspicion something was wrong when McLean went missing. Jeff Seymour, an acting coach, sensed trouble when McLean missed a day of filming.
“He was meticulous about everything, and there would be no chance he blew it off or slept too late. As soon as I heard he didn’t make it on Saturday morning, I knew there was big trouble,” Seymour stated.
Stewart McLean’s case has shifted from a missing person to a homicide investigation, authorities report.
Police have transitioned McLean’s missing case into a homicide inquiry. The Squamish RCMP found evidence leading them to suspect foul play. McLean’s awareness of his surroundings makes his disappearance puzzling.
Seymour, who knew McLean for eight years, described him as well-liked and not involved in questionable activities. “Everybody loved this guy,” Seymour mentioned. “He spent a lot of time reading and being at his home out there in Squamish.”
McLean went missing on May 18, leading the Squamish RCMP to start an investigation. He was last seen at his home in Lions Bay on May 15, according to the police press release.
On May 20, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the investigation. They received support from the Integrated Forensic Identification Service. On Friday, investigators announced to CBC News that McLean’s remains had been found and identified.
Authorities continue to gather and analyze evidence, review CCTV footage, and conduct interviews to trace McLean’s actions leading up to May 15. His contributions to the industry include roles in shows like “Virgin River,” “Arrow,” and “Murder in a Small Town.” McLean also worked as a producer, participating in projects such as “Travelers” and “Beyond.”
