Former Disney star Maitland Ward expressed dissatisfaction with Sydney Sweeney’s portrayal of an OnlyFans model in the third season of “Euphoria.” During a discussion with TMZ, Ward, known for her role in “Boy Meets World,” criticized scenes that feature Sweeney’s character, Cassie, engaging in childlike behavior on the subscription-based platform. Cassie is shown with a pacifier, styled in pigtails, and wearing sheer clothing, which Ward deemed inappropriate.
“There’s all sorts of stuff that you can’t do,” Ward stated. “The whole child-baby thing is so disgusting. You just can’t delve into that whole underage thing like that. I mean, you can do it to an extent if it’s playful, like, you’re an adult being childlike. But just the way it was handled was gross, and it’s just disgusting and vile.” She added that such scenes contradict OnlyFans’ guidelines, which aim to keep content free from any associations with pedophilia.
According to Ward, creators risk getting banned for violating these rules. She emphasized that OnlyFans has strict guidelines to prevent the presence of pedophiles. The show depicts Cassie turning to OnlyFans to fund her wedding and later support herself after discovering her financial woes with her husband, Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi.
Aside from the baby-themed scenes, Cassie is also shown dressing as a dog and drinking from a doggy bowl. Additionally, she dons a low-cut polka dot bodysuit while jumping rope for her subscribers. Other controversial actions include using a sex toy on herself and engaging in provocative acts on camera.
It’s saying how weird and creepy they are,” insisted Maitland. “There’s so many creators who are really working hard to build their brands every day, and this is really disingenuous.”
Ward criticized the portrayal of OnlyFans creators in the show, describing it as belittling. “It’s making fun of OnlyFans creators,” she stated. “Sydney Sweeney’s portrayal mocks the real individuals involved in sex work, portraying them as circus acts. The show treats sex work like a joke,” she said.
Ward, once a child actress herself, shared insights from her career in a series for Investigation Discovery called “Hollywood Demons.” Reflecting on her journey, she recounted her experiences in shows like “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “Boy Meets World.” Ward discussed how studios often shaped young actors to fit a specific mold, feeling like a “product” in her early career.
Now transitioned to adult films, Ward noted that she has gained more respect within Hollywood. Contrary to expectations, she found acceptance rather than criticism for her decision to enter the adult film industry.
