1 month ago 0

Aaron Rodgers has kept the Pittsburgh Steelers waiting for months about his decision to play in the 2026 season. On Wednesday, Rodgers made it clear that 2026 would be his final year in the NFL. His decision ends speculation for the Steelers about his future.

When asked by a reporter if this could be his last year, Rodgers answered simply, “Yes.” When another questioned further, he confirmed, “This is it, yep.”

Legacy on the Field

Rodgers’ achievements on the field establish him as one of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks. His resume includes 10 Pro Bowl appearances, five All-Pro selections, and four league MVP awards. He also has a Super Bowl victory and received the Super Bowl MVP honor.

Statistically, Rodgers has led the NFL in passer rating four times and in touchdown passes twice. He is part of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. His records include the highest career passer rating at 102.2, the best career touchdown-to-interception ratio of 4.3-1, and the lowest career interception percentage of 1.4%. He also holds the record for the highest single-season passer rating of 122.5 and most consecutive pass attempts without an interception, totaling 402.

Currently, he ranks fifth all-time in passing yards with 66,274 and fourth in touchdown passes with 527. He is expected to surpass Peyton Manning’s 539 touchdown passes by the end of the next season.

Off-Field Headlines

Despite his on-field success, Rodgers has often been in the news for off-field incidents. He engaged in ayahuasca retreats and opposed the COVID vaccine. His actions led to being fined by the NFL for attending a Halloween event unvaccinated. He was threatened with legal action over comments about Jimmy Kimmel and the Epstein files. He was rumored to be Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate during the 2024 election.

Rodgers also faced personal controversies, including negative comments from former partners Danica Patrick and Shailene Woodley. His estrangement from his family was publicized on “The Bachelorette.”

In recent years, these off-field issues have overshadowed his football career. They likely impact his legacy, often making headlines more for controversy than his athletic prowess.
